Conservatism Leads in Circles, by Which I Mean Nowhere

If conservatives want to stop the recent influx of child migrants from Central America, who have a good case for being refugees from a conflict zone (why else would a child trek thousands of miles from home unaccompanied and at great risk?), they should probably stop the drug war.

Just saying.

But really it should be stopped solely because it's an impossible task that causes more harm than good; and we should let more migrants in because the economic benefits are immense. Basically conservatives are thoroughly wrong on these issues, but even if you don't have sympathy for impoverished children fleeing a conflict, conservative policies on these issues are inevitably self-defeating at face value.

Also aren't nearly all conservatives in the US Christian? How many poor migrants fleeing a conflict would Jesus turn away? Does the world's richest country not have the resources to help improve the lives of fellow human beings on its doorstep? Not to mention that freer immigration would be a net gain for everyone so we don't even need to stop being selfish to support it.

Sorry[1] I'm not sorry for this rant; this ignorant shit makes us all worse off.

1. I'm not even actually sorry for not being sorry. Sorry[1].
